Final Spot Illustration for the Tale of Baba Yaga here at SCAD.
"I smell Russian blood" -- Baba Yaga often represents many of the classic witch characters we grew up with in fairytales. She is an earth goddess, the mother of life and death, who controls the weather and the changing times of day, but she is often watered down into an evil hag in many tales.
Here's my interpretation.
Completely traditional, no digital editing except for bumping the level by like, 4 points.
Watercolour, graphite, charcoal on illustration board.
I'll post more illustrations later from the series I created for my class.
